Robin Weinmann

Robin Weinmann has worked on the regulation of cyclin-dependent kinase 8 and 19 (CDK8 / CDK19) activity in the mediator complex at the University of Bayreuth where he obtained his Master’s degree. In Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, he worked on characterizing the phase separation behavior of a novel miRNA and translation regulator and its human orthologue. In his PhD work he is now dissecting structure-function relationships for the epigenetic network that centers around heterochromatin protein 1 (HP1) and the trimethylation of histone H3 at lysine 9 that silence transcription of pericentromeric repeats. He is particularly interested in elucidating structural and transcriptional changes during chromatin state transitions.
